Teyla's journal Welcome to Denmark We have currently arrived in Denmark after a long unpleasant journey from Gotland. We were given direction from Master Olam to assist the Stoneglade Covenant in whatever manner they needed help. As I was saying the Jouney here was not a pleasant one. We were content for most of it until we neared Denmark. The clouds began to draw themselves into thick dark stormclouds. Though we had been cautioned to keep our distance from the island of Samso we were forced to draw close to its shore by the oncoming storm. This island, which we have now learned is the home of the Stormcloud covenant, was an unwelcoming place. We came close enough to catch a glimpse of the stormbringers calling the storm from high on a bluff. It was too late for us to avoid the malign magical storm and we were pelted with heavy rains and the winds were ferocious. We were also soon to realize that we were the target of the storm. As quick as we realized the threat we began to steer away the best we could under the harsh conditions. The dark magics came upon us in the form of blades and stone. The wind was sharp as knives tearing at our sail and our flesh. My magics were unable to stop these winds from shredding our sails, however Dras and I managed to repair the sails with little trouble, but before we could get ourselves back on course the mast was struck with a bolt of lightning and fell to the deck. We were also being pelted with rain that had turned to small stones. Dras our mighty companion did not even flinch, he grabbed the oars and began to row us into safety. Our crew was as beaten up as were we. One of the crew however was unable to find shelter and was struck down by a large rock while we fled. After a few more days of rough seas and long faces we managed to reach our destination. Borglum was unwelcoming as I had feared. Dras and I were eager to reach the trees outside the town walls and quickly escorted the horses, Tyne and Klan, to the gates. Katia and Ani needed some supplies and went off to gather them. I realized that were we being followed and realized that she was a redcap attemtping to make contact. Her name was Brie and was not the welcoming sort either. She gave us an invitation to join her at her home covenant, Stormcloud. We politely declined and told her to tell her master that we had already received their warm welcome. I tried to do my best to keep this redcaps attention on me so that she would not spot my filia, katia. Since Katia is trained in the hermetic arts but not been revealed to the order I had to use caution. These are hard times and the last thing I could deal with is for her to find anymore danger then she already does. Dras and I managed to get free of the filthy town and we found a nice patch of trees to sit by and wait for our companions to finish collecting their supplies. Dras's impatience weighs on me. He is such a blessing to us but he does not hide his emotions well. I just needed this moment to relax a bit, but his pacing and worrying was relentless. It could not have been more than an hour and he was on his way back to gather up the pups. There is one thing you will quickly learn about Katia is that she attracts trouble like no one else I have ever met. She and Ani were at the gates being harrased by the guards who did not seem to believe that she was just passing through. After a bit of encouragement from Dras they all managed to catch up to me. Unfortunatley for all of us Brie, the redcap, had slipped by and found a seat along th road we were taking to Stoneglade. I could not sense the gift in her, but there was obviously something magical about her. I had to make sure that she did not follow us and chose to be the aggressor in the conversation. I would hate to repeat what was said to get her to change her mind about following us since I am unsure of who might read this and I would not care for them to have a lesser opinion of us. We do what we have to do in order to survive. Perhaps I will take some time soon to write out the next part of the journey, but it is time to say goodnight for now. Teyla Waldwarden |
